David wants a third win here.

The Cedrus Investments Cayman Islands Squash Open has started and world class action continues all week until the finals in Camana Bay on Saturday.

The first matches were played on Sunday at the South Sound Squash Club before moving to the glass court in Camana Bay on Wednesday. The Cayman Financial Review is one of the main sponsors.

All tickets for squash club matches for the Cedrus Cayman Open are on sale at the club and can be bought at the bar for cash or with a cheque. Welly’s are selling food a jerk barbeque at the club. General admission ranges from $10 to $50.

There is a busy schedule with six matches starting at 12:30 and six matches starting at 4:30.

The 2010 World No.1 Ramy Ashour from Egypt played Sunday night against Cayman’s Myron Blair. The women’s matches included players ranked as high as No.16 in the world. Women’s world No.1 Nicol David is here hoping to stay unbeaten for her third Cayman Open.

Tournament director Dan Kneipp said: “All of the profits of the 2011 Cedrus Investments Cayman Islands Squash Open go to the junior squash programme for the Cayman Islands National Squash Association. Over $32,000 worth of squash equipment will be donated to the programme.”

During the tournament over 300 juniors from 12 schools will get free workshops with the visiting pros and be able to train on the glass court at Camana Bay, with profits from the tournament raffle helping fund the national junior team attending this year’s Caribbean Junior Championships in Guyana.
