Ten rescued from sinking boat

Staff from the Department of Environment rescued 10 people, including two infants, from a sinking yacht in the North Sound Sunday.

According to police, shortly after 5pm Sunday, 15 July, officers received a report that a 52-foot motor yacht was taking on water off Bobby Cay in the North Sound.

As the Joint Marine Unit began making its way to the location, a Department of Environment vessel which was nearby responded and safely removed all of the people from the vessel.

The owner has make arrangements to have the vessel removed by a salvage crew, police said.
