A construction worker was injured when a large bucket crane toppled over in George Town business centre Sunday morning.
The crane smashed into an electricity pole on its way down, before slamming into a building across the road.
The accident happened on Shedden Road between First Caribbean Bank and Elizabethan Square around 11.30am.
Royal Cayman Islands Police at the scene said the crane had fallen over, hitting the Thai Restaurant building.
The crane had been situated next to First Caribbean Bank where the worker inside the bucket was taping clear plastic sheeting to the windows of the bank when the crane collapsed.
According to witnesses, the man was still inside the bucket when the crane came crashing down. He was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment.
As a precautionary measure to protect people from electric wiring that had been downed in the accident, police cordoned off the area and closed the adjacent streets to traffic.
