Karen is an economist and journalist and has a PhD in economics. She runs the capital office of a privately funded economic research institute, Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln (IW), in Berlin. Before, she served as an economics editor for the daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. She is president of the Friedrich A. von Hayek Society in Germany, member of the Mont Pèlerin Society and also a member of the Juries for the Milton Friedman Prize and the Sir Antony Fisher International Memorial Award. Her latest books include ‘Roads to Wisdom, Conversations with Ten Nobel Laureates in Economics’ (Elgar, 2009).
