If your Caymanian flag isn’t waving, get it out and up.
Time is drawing nigh for our beloved Caymanian Olympians to begin making their way to the venue for the London Olympics.
We have an amazing roster of athletes representing our small country at these phenomenal games: fifth time Gamer Cydonie Mothersill; swimming brothers Shaune (his third Olympiad) and Brett (his second) Fraser; returning Gamer Ronald Forbes; and well groomed newbie to the Games Kemar Hyman.
All five had earned the right to represent the Cayman Islands in their respective sport activities.
We know that our collective hearts will swell as we remain glued to out televisions when our athletes are performing at the Games in London. The action starts 27 July and runs 12 August.
That fact that we have five people representing the Cayman Islands is a testament to the athletes, government and the Cayman Islands Olympic Committee as well as the people who continually rally themselves around these sports stars and keep them encouraged.
We thank each of them for being our ambassador at the games. We know they’ll do us proud.
The Observer on Sunday wishes them God speed and good fortune.
