As the year winds down, a bit of pampering is certainly in order. After all, who wants to hit the new year carrying all the traces of the old with them? A Touch of Thai offers a range of treatments from massages to facials that promise to have you looking and feeling your best.
Elemis, a name that has become synonymous with luxury and wellbeing, is one of the most successful brands of spa and skin care ranges in the world. The British-made products are now to be found in top spas and cruise ships around the world.
The Elemis range combines powerful natural ingredients with scientific advances in anti-ageing, creating products that not only smell sublime but have dramatic, visible results.
A Touch of Thai is the only spa in Cayman to offer the Elemis specialist treatments. These carefully designed treatments have been developed by a dedicated team at Elemis, who combine potent ingredients and powerful massage techniques, to ensure every therapy shows real results.
Unlike other facials, where the customer chooses the type of facial that most appeals, with an Elemis facial the therapist scrutinises your skin under powerful lights to determine its condition and the type of treatment that will be most beneficial.
Maria, my Touch of Thai therapist, proclaimed my skin to be dehydrated, tired and sun damaged. I had puffy eyes, dark circles and broken capillaries. (And probably a whole lot more.)
Based on this, she decided on the pro-collagen facial for my rather sad skin. The treatment works to boost collagen production which in turns improves skin elasticity.
The wonderful thing about an Elemis facial (well, one of them, anyway) is that although the focus is on one’s face, it’s a full body treatment.
Before the facial begins but once you are lying comfortably in the darkened treatment room, the therapist washes and then gently massages your feet, instantly sending you into a blissful state of relaxation. Then she moves up to the face where she cleanses, tones and then places a hot, lavender scented compress on your face.
Then it’s mask time, and while the mask is busy infusing your skin with all manner of powerful goodness, the therapist gives you a head and scalp massage followed by a hand and arm massage.
The dim lighting, the wonderful fragrances of the different lotions and potions and the general sense of being spoiled soon lull you into a state of such deep relaxation you lose track of time. All too suddenly the treatment is complete, the lights come on and it’s back to reality - but now you face the world with thoroughly moisturised, nourished and collagen-boosted skin. WH
