Although sporting events tend to slow down a bit over the summer months, it is the perfect time to start setting a couple of goals for later in the year. With the open water swim season having peaked with the Flowers Sea Swim last month, it’s time to take to the roads, with numerous multisport events coming up over the next couple of months.
The Cayman Islands Marathon is also coming up at the end of the year, making this the perfect time to start those early training runs, or at least start thinking about maybe buying a pair of trainers so you can get into running.
Just remember that with the summer heat and humidity, training is best attempted early in the morning, and make a point of staying well hydrated during any training, as dehydration can have a negative impact not only on your sporting performance, but on your ability to focus at work as well.
