It seems there is no end to the means people will think up to have fun in or on the water. Xtreme Watersports goes beyond the usual water sports and has sought out some of the latest toys to give you a different aquatic experience.

Owners Luciano and Alex have joined forces recently, bringing WOW balls and Seabobs to the beach next to Calico Jack’s.

Get a taste of a dolphin’s life as you slice through the water at speed, ducking and diving with a Seabob. These submersible aquatic scooters are simple to operate: hold on to the handles, set your speed and squeeze the throttle.

The Seabob pulls you smoothly and silently through the water and you control your direction by simply leaning left or right. Tilt it down and the Seabob takes you for a little dive, angle it upwards and you pop back up.

For safety, the maximum depth is set to ten feet, but Seabobs also operate at greater depths. For scuba divers the depth limit can be changed and they can cruise down to 120 feet, with no effort at all. Because they are neutrally buoyant, divers can even let go of the device, while they have a look under a rock or overhang, and return to it when they are ready to move on.

Alternatively, try standing, walking or running on water – inside a WOW ball. The large thermoplastic polyurethane balls are two metres in diameter and totally transparent. Step inside and the ball is inflated, with you inside, then you’re towed out to sea to try your sea legs. It’s both exhilarating and impossible and in less than 10 minutes you’ll be exhausted.

Slipping, sliding and falling inside these balls is bound to bring on a few laughs, which makes them a great addition to any party, whether it’s a children’s birthday party or a corporate event in need of a little levity. They’re easy to transport so can be taken anywhere where there is a body of water.

Similarly, the Seabobs are small and compact and can be delivered to your condo, hotel or yacht.

Xtreme Watersports is offering Cayman residents a 20 per cent discount on both WOW balls and Seabobs, with proof of ID, so there’s no excuse not to get out and have some fun in the water this summer.
